From my experience much of the enjoyment of a British folk club is provided by the welcoming attitude of the pub landlord and his staff. The number of clubs that have folded because of a change of landlord is huge, as I'm sure most British 'catters have experienced. When all the constituent elements gel there is no better place in which to spend a few hours each week. Guest DB - I first went to Peterborough club when it was at the Heron in Stanground if I remember rightly. That would have been back end of the 60's and being run by Pete? Shaw. I lived in Stamford in those days when that club was at the London Inn. I must be getting old! Bye the way, nice thread Susan.
