Dave Brady came to our folk club in Birmingham when I was struggling to play the concertina. He inspired me to work harder at it and I've not looked back since. One of the songs that I loved to hear him sing was the ballad Thomas of Winesbury. Recently I decided to learn it, and was amazed that the words came back to me very easily, as long as I just imagined myself listening to his performance. He had such a big presence, and will be sadly missed.
