OK, so maybe it is not patented. But here is what I do a lot of times:

I read a post that rouses some measure of indignity at the gall some people show to post something so utterly disagreeable, vacuous, or just plain stupid. I mean, really, how COULD they? So what I do is type some reply, rant (and sometimes raving, too) about whatever this person may have said. Once it is all out of my system, I erase it and hit page back. I get the benefit of venting, then get to the next level where I do not have to put up with the string of posts (of which I am a part) that follows. In 99% of the cases, the entire subject is so trivial that I forget about it right away anyway.

I am not a big fan of Dennis Leary, but I once heard him discussing his new form of therapy....it is called, "SHut the f*** up." I am not so sure it isn't a great idea.
