I am obviously getting long in the tooth to still call them "Juke Boxes" but whatever they seem to be part of the commerciality of pubs and can be very loud. In several pubs that are "traditional" and entertain traditional sessions new Jukeboxes have been installed leading to our being hopelessly outgunned for sessions. Mine hosts approach is sort of understandable - the young kids who come in like loud music and drink more than you lot. The result is being pushed out into obscure rooms (in one case a cold damp room opposite a corridor and way from the bar and other public contact) or being pushed out altogether. I don't know if this is universal or if there is an answer - I can't say we should drink more, pleasant though that might be, because many drive to the sessions. Any thoughts?
