I've just got back from the Steve Gillette/Cindy Mangsen gig at Llantrisant - they were really, truly great. Superb, astonishing playing coupled with a sheer love of music, with voices that fit together like a good whisky goes with expensive cream in your coffee. Steve did Darcy Farrow and turned it into a ballad of sheer beauty (and his guitar playing was jaw-dropping) while Cindy steered her way easily through a tongue-twisting true tale about the cat who got its head stuck in a waste-disposal gadget. There were songs, tunes and completely off-the-wall numbers as Steve and Cindy worked magic with the time - how could they fit in all those years making lovely music together? It was a joyous, complete night, and one which it was a privilege to part in. Well done, both!
