I saw him on TV a long time ago, when TV was bold enough to occasionally pander to the counterculture. It was on a venue such as "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour," but it wasn't that show. He sat cross-legged in the middle of the stage and played (I think), Wear Your Love Like Heaven. When he was done, the audience threw flowers at him. The same show also aired Arlo Guthrie, who did (I think, again) The City of New Orleans. Arlo also discussed the problem of finding a word that rhymed with "orange." The only word he could think of was "door hinge."
