Hello all, I am a Irish tenor banjo player, guitar, mandolin, whistles, vocals player from, Nottingham/ long Eaton. I am 17 going on 18 years old and feel its about time to start making lovely music with others. I am looking for other youngish folkies who love nothing more than to play rhythmic pounding folk tunes, soft melodies, harmonious and pounding songs. to start a band I love folk music. From traditional to modern. I am inspired by Luke Kelly and the Dubliners, Christy more, the pogues the Clancy brothers the chieftains, altan , solas , Dougie Maclean and many many many more. I am very open-minded and love to hear new amazing stuff. Being modest (not bigheaded hopefully he he) I say I can hold fast tunes (with some improvisation of my own) on the old banjo mandolin and whistles as well as improvising nice counter melodies to go along with others singing. I also sing quite a few songs with decent quality (trying not to sound cocky). I would just love to start a band with other young folkies who share my passion for folk music (not that there's nothing wrong with oldies, most of my folk musician friends are mature adults, infact I think some of them use this site (so no offence to them) and i love them all for brining such amazing music to me in the past years and introducing me to the folk club circuit I would have just been playing in pubs in Ireland with my family and at home if it wasn't for you. So thank you (most of all to mikk skinner)) I am quite open minded to all instruments, would love a fiddler to share kick as tunes with and another person to back up tunes and songs with (I have no problem with the band having 5 solo singers if it wishes.. infact multi instrumentalers would be the best because equality in the band would be brilliant e.g. I sing a song then I back someone else up on a tune or a song then someone backs me up on a tune. and the circle just keeps going round) i would love for us all to show our talents off. Very willing and open minded to song writers as I have written some as well, so would love to collaborate on my own and other peoples songs. You will often find me at the Mansfield folk club at the brown cow, the Vernon arms folk club in spondon and various other open mikes, sessions and clubs around Nottinghamshire/derbyshire long Eaton and beeston on a weekly basis. so if your up for it my number is 01158545494 or theysayjumpwesayhowhigh@hotmail.com or perhaps catch me at a folk club or contact me, I await any replies with the uttermost enthusiasm just ask for Stacey McMullen (by the way I am a boy not a girl if the name confuses)
I have deleted the telephone number and email. This appears to be a windup, but if you want the email back in here, I would suggest an email to Joe@mudcat.org. Mudelf
