Ah hello, ever hear of Guerrilla warfare ? 28,000 British soldiers soldiers and 17,000 police (figures for mid seventies) odds were a little one sided, would you not agree ? What about the French Resistance in 1940 ? Yes got it now, you feel they should have came out in ful kit and kicked hell out of Hilters army.
