We don't have skunks in Alaska. For us, the first sound of spring is the long, sweet, pure whistle of the Varied Thrush in the forest. We STILL have lots of snow everywhere,- with more forecast - but I imagine that deep down below the thick blanket the crocus is preparing itself. (However, at the rate this winter is going it may be June before all the snow is melted. Odds are not lookin' good. :)
