GUEST,Ancient Briton Django Reinhardt's banjo recording (2) Django Reinhardt's banjo recording 16 Mar 07

Some time ago there was a discussion here about guitar banjos and someone (sorry I can't remember who) said that Django had used a guitar banjo but that there were no recordings.

I replied that there were - I have one such - but at the time couldn't quote chapter and verse as my vinyl disc was out on loan.

I've got it back so here's the detail for anyone who's interested:

The tune is called "Ma reguliere"

It was recorded in March 1928 by L'orchestre de Jean Vaissade, featuring Django on banjo, together with a guy called inconnu (sifflet a coulisse).

It's on a twin album compilation called "toutes les cordes de Django Reinhardt" - recordings from 1928 - 1946, issued by EMI Pathe, reference C 054 - 10.395/96
