In a way, I would have thought americans would object more than iranians. The film is about a small group who see themselves as superior to everyone else taking on an imperialist alegedly decadent super power. Think of anyone in modern times that mirrors that tendency? (Admittedly the spartans only did in other soldiers, so it falls apart there.)
