I have a small acoustic music store in east Tennessee in USA. It's in a little community, Red Bank, near Chattanooga. The metropolitan area has about 400,000 people. I sell instruments and supplies, give lessons, and provide a "musicians' hangout." I don't push many CDS or tapes. The area is mixed, with homes and businesses, and I have many neighborhood "regulars." I wonder if there ever were neighborhood music stores, like there were once neighborhood restaurants, hardware stores, small groceries, butchers, etc.?? If so, i wonder how they survived financuially? What did they stock?
