GUEST,Rev Mystic Seaport Sea Music Festival 2007 (246* d) RE: Mystic Seaport Sea Music Festival 2007 28 Mar 07

While looking at the blurb about the Festival I decided to check the job openings page and found this:

Chantey Interpreter: seeking skilled musician to join chantey team in the Interpretation Department. Chantey staff are responsible for performing high quality historically accurate maritime music both at Mystic Seaport and off-site, assisting in planning/running annual Sea Music Festival, working with Demonstration Squad showing maritime skills. Some of the demonstrations of maritime skills such as rigging, climbing and sail-handling on a square-rigged ship require physical stamina. The ideal candidate will hold a BA in a related field or equivalent experience, have proven performance skills including an aptitude for public speaking, ability to work in a collaborative environment as part of a team and willingness to work in all weather. All candidates need to prepare a 15-minute performance audition as part of the interview process.

So for all you chantey singers out there who've always wanted to try chanteying for "a living," here's your chance. There are several Mudcatters who've done this job (Marc Bernier, Bob Walser... are there more?), perhaps theywould be willing to correspond with interested parties.
