Hi - In addition to the above, I'll point out that it will vary according to the guitar - fret height possible being a variable. I think perhaps playing style may matter too. You will have worse problems when the sting is looser (Dropped D or DADGAD) - A luthier explained this to me once: he got all techie on me but in short it has to do with the tensile force across the string and the point at which you are putting pressure on it. On 2 of my guitars, I always put on a heavier than [my] normal bass string for playing DADGAD as this seems to alleviate the problem for me considerably. -Rutger
