Dave, if your mail program stores mail in a file with a distinctive extension, you can use the hint I expressed above by downloading a Firefox Extension called "MIME Edit 0.52." With this extension installed you can add new file types to Firefox and instruct the program what actions to perform, such as "open with default program" or Open with...." Then, if you place a 'bookmark' with the path to the mailbox file on the toolbar (as I described above), Firefox will automatically open the file with your designated program.
