Probably one of the most viewed astronauts I think to me it seems, since he sat next to Walter Cronkite on CBS for much of the later space shot coverages did he not?(probably all of the Apollo stuff?). What a time for imagination to soar and in such a relatively short number of years. I doodled a lot of lunar landers and command modules in my elementary school notebooks at one time. Built a Saturn V rocket model.
