GUEST,Ian Jackson Holmfirth Festival of Folk 2007 part two (115* d) RE: Holmfirth Festival of Folk 2007 part two 14 May 07

I'd just like to say a big big thanks to the organisers of the Holmfirth Festival of folk. My wife Sandra and I had a great time. It's the first time we've been to Yorkshire in 35 years (work has kept me too busy) and it was well worth the wait. Even the rain didn't spoil if for us.

We enjoyed every event we attended. We particularly liked the Friday concert at the Old Bridge. That young duo Gilmore and Roberts were great, I've never seen guitar playing like that. I also really liked the singer that they sang with, Gerry McNeese (I'm not sure if that's the right spelling as I couldn't find him in the programme). His song 'Danger Sign' was a beautiful. Really tasteful and accomplished guitar playing too. He seemed to be everywhere this weekend as I saw him with a couple of morris dancing teams and again singing unaccompanied. He told me he's in Dartmouth next weekend and that's not too far from where we live so we'll be going to see him again then.

The spoons workshop was amazing also. What a sight to see (and hear). And such a variety of dancers and street performers, even the grey clouds couldn't take away the colour of it all.

We'll be coming back next year if we can.

Thanks again

Ian & Sandra Jackson
