Christy Moore on his "The spirit of freedom" sings the recent political ballad "Michael Gaughan" (one of the deadv IRA hungerstrikers) to the tune of this song. Obviously a considerable part of the lyrics is also used and only slightly adapted to fit Gaughan's dying. Take me home to Mayo across the Irish (not:Atlantik) sea (for Gaughan was dying in England)... and: "My name is Michael Gaughan from Ballina I came..." And I had always thought that "Michael Gaughan" was a recent ballad... Thanks Rosie for posting the lyrics which are I guess considerably older than the ones I knew, but, however, JFog, if you are interested in the IRA version, drop me a line here. Wolfgang
