Bill, it's great to see these events pointing up the amazing achievement that this book represents--both for Steve Goodman and for Clay. It's a fine book that gives a ton of insight into the making of a relatively decent career in this "business"---if that's what this IS. It's about an extremely personable folkie who took the extra steps needed to make a gigging existence within a rather vibrant Chicago music scene into an actual livelihood for him and his family. Steve was a man whose life illustrated and personified the extraordinary drive and determination of this very talented performer whose only songwriting and/or performing "hit" was for someone else. Also, this book, tangentially, manages to chronicle (shine needed light upon) the Chicago folk scene of that incandescent era. Art Thieme
