Well I don't think that an appreciation of Broadside and John Conolly would be complete without a mention of John's Mum, Vi Conolly. She could entertain any audience with her wonderful songs, (mostly of the 'double entendre' variety), and her warmth and enthusiasm were irrepressible. Her all too rare visits to the Royal Oak folk club in Grimsby invariably left the whole audience laughing, clapping and shouting for more. A lovely lady with a very talented son.
