Most any indigenous personage can tell you, it all started with them. Just take a lump of whatever passes for "bread" from any particular indigenous people, drop it in hot grease, & voila, the origins of State Fair Food. Or, just go to most any Pow Wow, and try the Fry Bread. Years back, I overheard an elder at a Pow Wow mention to another that only a White man would pay a whole dollar for a lump of dough cooked in grease. They both laughed heartily as they continued to eat their Fry Bread drenched with honey.
