In 1857, Manchester held the Arts and Treasures exhibition sponsored by local mill owners and opened by Prince Albert. BBC Radio 4 is running 2 programmes about this exhibition in its 150th anniversary year. Two brief clips of one of the "Manchester Ballads" - "The Manchester Exhibition" recorded by Chris Harvey and myself have been used to illustrate a couple of points in the programme. The programme is now available for a week on the "listen again" facility on www.bbc.co.uk The second programme is on next Monday at 11-00am The producer of the programme - Liz Carney - got in touch with me when she found out we had recorded the song and although only brief extracts have been used I'm pleased that someone at the Beeb has seen sense to use some authentic material from the period. (The tune was written by Roy Palmer when he and Harry Boardman put the Manchester Ballads folder together in 1983) Just thought you'd like to know Cheers Mark
