It's probably foolhardy to blunder into the field of semantics, but doesn't "traditional song" mean "a song that is part of a tradition" and "traditional singer" mean "a singer who is part of a tradition"? I sing traditional songs which I learned from recordings, books and acquaintances. I don't kid myself I'm part of a singing tradition.
