Hi...

Is there a way to submit corrections to the lyrics in the database? I searched on "Silver Whistle" and noticed that the lyrics you have for that song contain several errors, or at least differences from the liner notes I have for the album the song comes from... according to your lyrics listing it is taken from "Silly Sisters" by Maddy Prior & June Tabor, yet what you have differs noticeably from what is on that album's liner notes.

Anyway, if anybody wants to update the lyrics for "Silver Whistle," here's what the liner notes contain:

--------------
SILVER WHISTLE
as performed by Maddy Prior & June Tabor on "Silly Sisters"

O, who will play the silver whistle
When my king's son to sea is going?
To Scotland prepares, prepares his coming,
Upon a large ship o'er the ocean.

The ship it has three masts of silver
With ropes so light of French silk woven
Upon each end are fixed golden pulleys
To bring my king's son ashore and landed.

When my king's son, he comes back home
No girdle scones will food be for him,
But loaves of bread, bread will be baking,
For Charles with eyes so blue enticing.

O, welcome to you, Fame and Honour
Fiddles and joyous tunes attend you
I will be dancing! I will be singing!
And I will play the silver whistle.

^^
By the way, does anybody know anything about this song? Are you aware of any other recordings of it? This is all the information that is included on the liner notes:

"A Jacobite song from Flora MacNeil of Barra, (in Peter Kennedy, Folk Songs of Britain and Ireland, Cassell, 1975) substantially reduced. The tune (following) an ingenious composition by Johnny Moynihan."

The paragraph is relatively confusing, but I'm assuming that by "the tune (following)" they mean the whistle solo at the end of the song, not the song itself. Johnny Moynihan is the whistle player on that song on the "Silly Sisters" album.

I did find a listing for the book they mention, on Amazon, but at $45 or so I am hoping I can find it in a library...
