melyssa Origins: hebrides sea song (22) RE: Origins: hebrides sea song 12 Dec 07

Everything I have read about Songs of the Hebrides states that Kenneth McLeod was indeed the translator. I'm not sure how I feel about rewriting the song though. I like the verses which is why I composed my own tune for it. I have called it before Lament of the Eldar because to me it reminded me of Tolkien and the elves leaving middle earth.

I found a MZB filk page (fan music) that a whole cassette of her Darkover songs had been published in 1993. Two of the songs listed in the book were on this cassette. They were recorded by Margaret Davis, a celtic vocalist and harper. I have contacted Ms. Davis and I am hoping she may have my answer.

Thank you for the kind words Leeneia. It is nice to know that someone else enjoyed my tune and my singing.
