Hello again!

We've got some great concerts coming up in January! To wit:

Lisa Ornstein & André Marchand
Saturday, January 5, 7:30 p.m., $18

Join fiddler Lisa Ornstein and songster/guitarist André Marchand for an evening of tunes and songs from French Canada. A founder of the Québécois super-group, La Bottine Souriante, André Marchand has defined Québécois music for the past thirty years with his legendary voice, his repertoire of traditional songs, and his unique guitar accompaniment. Lisa Ornstein tumbled into Québécois music following apprenticeships with Vermont fiddler Louis Beaudoin and Québécois fiddler Louis 'Pitou' Boudreault. Lisa's dynamic fiddling and impeccable tune choice have inspired a generation of Québécois musicians. Lisa and Andre have been playing together for thirty years and have a wealth of experience bringing the music of Québec to life. Lisa and André will also teach Québécois fiddle and guitar workshops separately and together on Sunday, January 6, the day after the concert. Sponsored by Northwest Folklife.

Bill Evans & Megan Lynch
Saturday, January 19, 7:30 p.m. $18

World-renowned California bluegrass banjo player (and author of Banjo For Dummies) Bill Evans (Dry Branch Fire Squad, David Grisman, Peter Rowan) and six-time National Champion Nashville fiddler Megan Lynch (3 Fox Drive, Barbara Lamb, Jim Hurst) blend tradition and innovation, mixing original instrumentals with creative interpretations of modern tunes and a few well-chosen standards. Fast banjo and fiddle duets? Most definitely. But you'll also be surprised at how well these celebrated bluegrass sidepersons sing together on material that ranges from Rose Maddox to Van Morrison. Join Bill and Megan for banjo and fiddle workshops on Saturday before the concert.

Del Rey & Steve James
Saturday, January 26, 7:30 p.m., $18

Dusty Strings favorites Del Rey and Steve James return to Dusty Strings as a duo once again, for another evening of hot guitars and cool songs. Ian Zack of Acoustic Guitar magazine writes, "When Steve James and Del Rey, a pair of acoustic blues guitar virtuosos, play together live, the result is usually a heady mixture of dueling strings, intellectual humor, and Blues History 101." Not to mention their wide-ranging skills on a variety of other instruments and styles, their wise and witty lyrics, and their clear and honest vocals. Del will also teach ukulele workshops on Sunday afternoon, January 27.

Hope to see you there. Merry Christma-Hanu-Rama-Ka-Dona-Kwanzaa!

(can you tell I've been listening to too much Roy Zimmerman? ;))
