Blowzabella Glasson Maritime Weekend - Easter 08 (145* d) Glasson Maritime Weekend - Easter 08 04 Jan 08

Ok .... well ... I'm starting a new thread for this, so as not to get confused ...

The Festival that Refused to Lie Down

This is to advise that the 2008 Glasson Maritime Weekend is going ahead at Easter.

The organisers (who are presently in a state of shock *G* - they have only just heard themselves!!!) will be the same as for last year's Glasson Maritime Weekend and therefore the same people who organised the Lancaster Maritime Festival. In total, this will be the 20th year!

Some funding is coming from one major sponsor, some from Lancaster City Council and the balance will be made up of smaller income sources.

At this stage, it looks as though it will run from the evening of Good Friday, through to Easter Monday - with an improved main venue (the big performance marquee from last year will not be repeated).

An enormous 'Thank You' to everyone who took the time to send communications to the press and councillors etc - it seems it did the trick!

Please understand that the organisers have had no opportunity to make any firm plans at this stage and will have an *ahem* very busy couple of months ahead of them. Those of you who have been before will know that this is a very special festival, and the organisers will do all they can to maintain this, despite the concertina'd timescale available to them. It's a good job they hadn't booked an Easter break themselves, eh!

For further information, when it is available, please make contact via email to dwright@lancaster.gov.uk or vsimpkin@lancaster.gov.uk

If you would like to be placed on the Festival's mailing list, please make sure you include your full name and POSTAL address. Thank you!!

Going for a lie down now ....
