I remember Beany and Cecil and I remember RAGGMOPP, but I don't remember any connection between the two. Obviously there was, since so many people seem to recall hearing the song on the show. The show initially ran locally in Los Angeles as Time for Beany before going national. Groucho Marx said it was one of the few children's shows that also appealed to adults. The fact that Stan Freberg was one of the writers and puppetteers probably had a lot to do with that. My dad and I used to watch it together. One of his favorite characters was Tearalong, the Dotted Lion. I also learned on Wikipedia that Albert Einstein once cut short a lecture on quantum mechanics to get home for Time for Beany.
