Caroline Arless is a rather minor character in the book...the role, like that of Arwen in Lord of the Rings, was beefed up to benefit the star in the role. Personally I've gone back to the book in a big way and I'm listening to original soundtrack music to the National Theatre production. Charlotte (somewhere between Lark Rise and Candleford)
