I think a lot of the people who replied didn't listen to what I said. I have no problem with blank verse. It's not supposed to rhyme. On the other hand, a lot of Shakespeare's poetry does. Perhaps 'Thompson' thinks that most of Wild Mountain Thyme has that pursed-lip held-in feeling because it does rhyme. Perhaps my first message was a little ambiguous. What irritates me is that the first verse doesn't rhyme or make much sense the way most people sing it and the rest of the song does (more or less). Anyway, Dick Gaughan seems to agree with me so I'm happy.
