Yes-- that is Mari Boine, she wasn't using the other name for a while. It looks like there is a new CD out, I will have to look for it. Her more recent ones were pretty jazzy and I didn't care so much for the that, but the You Tube one sounds good.

PMB I stand corrected-- you are exactly right. Joiking is not like singing in the way we think of it all. In fact some Sami people treat it as a shamanic practice. a Sami I learned from calls it "spirit singing".
