This may be too late but I only just found this thread. Our sea chanty group, Roll & Go, consisits of four men and three women. We each take turns leading songs in concert making sure everyone gets a chance. The women have no problem singing any of the songs. The lead voice has complete control over the songs she/he chooses to do. No one should miss out on the opportunity to sing with women in this genre. They add such a wonderful dimension to the music they should never feel left out.
