"They're interesting acoustic POP (short for "popular" BTW)" John Tams, the English FOLK musician prefers the term popular music to folk music, because, after all, that's what "folk" music was..the pop (short for "popular" BTW *LOL*) music of it's time. 'The problem is that so many singer-songwriters who are primarily acoustic do NOT write songs in the style of traditional folk.' Sorry I fail to grasp why this is a problem. Are we to expect that all singer/songwriters should "write in the traditional style" (whatever that means)in order to be considered "folk" musicians? Charlotte R
