GUEST,Chanteyranger 20th annual sea music concert series, SF (5) 20th annual sea music concert series, SF 12 Jun 08

San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is celebrating 20 years of presenting sea music's finest performers, in concert aboard the 1886 Glasgow-built square rigger Balclutha. The series was started in 1989 by park ranger Celeste BernardoThe 20th series brings to San Francisco:

GEOFF KAUFMAN
Saturday, September 27, 8pm. Tickets: $14 general, $12 park association and library friends members.

Geoff was the concert series first performer, back in September, 1989. He has since returned several times to the Balclutha as a member of Mystic Seaport Forebitter. We're pleased to have him back, solo, as he performed here in our first concert. Geoff has several solo recordings to his credit, as well as having recorded with Mystic Seaport Forebitter. He brings a fine voice, deep knowledge of sea music and maritime history, and a passion for sharing music with his audiences.

IDA RED (Alison Kelley, Daphne Glover, Erica Smith, Craig Edwards)Saturday, October 18, 8pm. Tickets: $14 general, $12 members (as for Kaufman concert)

Emerging from the New York City music scene, Ida Red brings a fresh approach to traditional music, whether singing a cappella harmonies, or accompanying themselves on fiddle, banjo, and guitar. A good many 'catters, and concert serioes goers over the years would know Alison Kelley from her work with The Johnson Girls and The NexTradition; Daphne Glover, from The Windlasses, and Craig Edwards from Mystic Seaport Forebitter. Great stuff!

Season ticket: Both concerts, $24.
To order tickets: 415-561-6662, ext. 33, or email jmeyer@maritime.org.
