There have been some equally weird names in history - mainly taken from the Old Testament - how would you fancy being called Nehushta? I found it in an 18th century parish register, she was a daughter of David and it meant 'snake maiden'.... very odd in the middle of rural sheep country! An article in the Metro freebie newspaper stated that 'Zebeedee' had been disallowed in 1999. They should have checked their Bibles. I feel for the poor child... her parents should have been dissuaded from naming her that at her registration. Of course, this now begs the question, where does it come from? Is it a song or a character from a play? LTS
