Last night I saw Pete Abbott at the Attic Folk Club. What a brilliant performer. I must have seen him several times before as part of the John Wright Band, but the name hadn't clicked. I also hadn't appreciated that he wrote several of the songs that John used to sing. Its almost unfair to single out any one of his songs, but his rendition of "Windy Harbour" (another of his own songs) was superb. He also did some wonderful guitar playing. The support act was "No Fixed Abode", which was rather spoilt by excessive use of reverb, which gave the impression the whole thing was taking place in a public convenience. It was good to see the Attic full again, the committee do a grand job bringing a range of artists to Chesterfield. Next month - Collum Sands. John
