OK, maybe I'm prejudiced because it's where I make music these days, but, damn, Kansas City has a huge music scene. Any night of the week will find several public jams going on -- folk, bluegrass, Celtic, fiddle, country -- plus the legendary blues and jazz jams on the weekend. In addition, there's an enormous community of somewhat interconnected jams that happen in private homes and little out-of-the-way bars, restaurants and coffee houses. There's certainly never a reason for any musician in this area to be without music pals, but I think it's even bigger than that. I say Kansas City and its surroundings is the Jam Capital of the World (maybe the Universe. I mean, who knows exactly where that "Music of the Spheres" stuff is coming from?). Any contenders want to challenge this claim? Peace out, WyoWoman
