GUEST,meanwhile, back in the real world! Lostwithiel Folk Jam - Change of Venue (UK) (15) RE: Lostwithiel Folk Jam - Change of Venue (UK) 17 Sep 08

What an interesting post from 'Landlady of the Earl of Chatham'!
We don't mind you commenting at all, frankly, now that Shameless is no longer on channel 4 it gives us a much needed injection of gritty Northern humour!

Let me quote 'I can assure you that our attitude towards you all was very positive and we did enjoy listening to the music you all play'
why oh why then did the landlord appear completely indifferent to our presence, even though just a couple of weeks before we had provided a room full of customers (and musicians)all having a bloody good session in his newly acquired (managed) pub?
As for your comments re. percussionm being an issue?? in the past it's always been the Harmonium players that started the fights, percussionists only being brought in as a last resort to restore order!

It's a shame that the chatham has, as you say 'lost a tradition' and it's true that it has lost the tradition of people walking through the door, buying a drink and enjoying themselves. I'm so pleased that you have been able to feel a part of the Saddleworth folk sessions as I hope they will welcome you back when you realise that Cornwall isn't quite working out for you!

There is no bad feeling from us, we have discovered the Kings Arms, a gem of a pub that welcomes us with open arms. The fact that we took with us a nubmber of non musical former Chatham regulars speaks volumes!
