Turtle favorite Irish/Scottish fiddlers? (58* d) RE: favorite Irish/Scottish fiddlers? 20 Jun 00

Scottish fiddlers--Aly Bain, Johnny Cunningham, and recently the Wrigley Sisters from Orkney.

I'm not as familiar with Irish fiddlers, but I see Kevin Burke every chance I get, and Martin Hayes, of course.

And what about Christian LeMaitre (is that his name? the guy who plays with Kevin Burke and Johnny Cunningham in the Fiddle Fest) from Bretagne? He's a mighty fine fiddler, too, although not Scots, Irish, or Cape Breton. (Does adding him to the list make me a lumper?)

I've also been listening a lot to Elke Baker, who's an American but the National Scottish fiddle champion in this country.

Here's another question for you fiddlers out there--who do you like on the Scandinavian scene? Either fiddlers or bands with fiddlers in them--it seems that Scandinavian music is really exploding over here right now, although maybe that's just living in Nordic Minnesota.,br>
