I gave somewhere between 60 and 90 dozen eggs this year. In the spring when they are laying there are not enough customers and I would so much rather give them to people who need them. On that note, most pantries now do have refrigerators and can take perishables. (Wrong season now, but consider taking extra produce and so on. Meat is tough as it has to be processed in a Federally Inspected plant--where an inspector is there all the time. My meat plant is inspected periodically, so the meat cannot be sold by the piece and cannot be given away either.) I saw a cartoon a few years back with a girl and her father were getting some extras to put in the food shelf bin and she questioned why he was just getting really cheap basics. After he thought a moment they went back and got some fun treats to put in. Wavestar told me the other day about Robert Kennedy saying that there were no hungry kids in America, and upon being taken to see some kids who were truly underfed, went on his knees and wept. We haven't made much progress, have we? CamiSu
