I've actually been to prison, for a short time (political matter). I met a couple of guys I knew there and they introduced me to a number of the inmates, including a couple of murderers, con artists, etc. I was lucky in that my cellmate was a doctor and had a couple of books to read. He is now married to the deputy leader of the Labour Party in Ireland. The absolutely worst thing about prison at that time (70s) was the food. Also the prison clothing was a bit rough. Don't know if I'd fancy it again.
