Oh, by the way... I told my mother about this, and passed along the words of the song to her. She immediately suggested that it sounded like it could have been the thoughts of Joseph, Mary's husband, as he was observing the birth of Jesus. I guess I'll have to ask Theodore Bikel next time I see him (haha), but I think that's a very beautiful thought indeed. He is addressing the newborn little baby with "ahavti", and his beloved Mary as "alma k'dosha". It certainly could be. I mean, who else but Joseph would have been in that room and known that Mary was indeed a virgin? Sweet. :) Okay - Merry Christmas. Mark
