Frank Hamilton has a point. Or half a point.

It IS snobbish to look down on albums promising Celtic Christmas, Celtic Strings, Celtic Dream, Celtic Drivel et al

But we have to endure so much snobbishness directed at us that we must be allowed our moment of revenge.

The fact is that the adjective is inserted quite cynically as a marketing tool. Nothing wrong with marketing, you may say, Frank, and nothing wrong with trying to package folk/trad for the masses. But also nothing wrong with the rest of us having our chance to turn up our noses at something.
