My son and his wife just got back from a month in the Philippines visiting her relatives and brought me back a bandurria as a Christmas gift. It is a 14 string mandolin-type instrument with the strings arranged in 6 courses with 1-2-2-3-3-3 courses bass to treble. I presently have it tuned one octave and two half steps higher than a guitar, but the proper tuning is F#-B-E-A-D-G according to the store where they bought it. I'd appreciate any information anyone has about this instrument, how it is played, the type of music in which it is used... Thanks, Jim
