Dear Grumpy
Surely?....
The internet is there for us all - it is primarily a great source of 'information'.
Whenever someone presents information, it is useful to 'somebody'.
Thank you for informing us that this particular information (that Tom presented) is if no use to you.
I'm sure someone will find that fact informative!

Tom (like so many) is an independant artist - no management, no agent, no record company
- and, therefore, no resultant publicity machine working on his behalf.
The fact that he (and others) post on here (and other such public forums) where ALL are entitled to publish, is indeed 'informative'
- helpful to so very many.
Such effort on his part helps keep many a venue (in tandem with their own efforts) publicised - and therefore functional! - alive!

Whilst I respect you have every cause to voice any opinion you hold, I cannot help but question your purpose in such negativity?
...To ask what contribution you make to keep UK folk music alive? (you may well - and I'd rather hear about that than such uneccessary put-downs).
...To point out that there are many who are only too pleased when an artist 'bothers' to make such efforts (one simply hasn't the time to continually 'look-up' individual artists own websites all the time for updates - if that's a possible counter-argument from you) - such efforts keep us 'informed!
... to close with the observation that, your wee snipe at a hard-working lad (with no option but to post his own gigs wherever is legally possible)
makes you appear... well,....er,... nothing but
...grumpy!

Wishing you health, happiness and joy in your life - Duncan (McFarlane)
