Some years ago the Premier of Queensland was an oafish peanut farmer. When the question of whether the State should adopt daylight saving came up in Parliament he spoke against it on the grounds that it wasn't fair to wake up the cows for milking an hour earlier, and that his wife thought the extra hour of sunlight would fade her curtains.
