Joyriding sounds like a term a social worker would use in court in an attempt to get some little shit off on a charge. My car was taken from my front door at 11pm four years ago. It turned up 25 miles away supporting a motorway exit barrier. The ones who stole were caught, they stole five cars in just three weeks, all ending up like mine, wrecked. Dealing with insurance companies after an incident like this is a nightmare, they treat you as if it was your fault. Anyway the three that stole my car were brought to court and after a very moving family history was read out the judge slapped their wrist and they left the court to go and feed goats for three weeks at a local park. There is no joy in stealing someone's car, it should be treated as attempted murder, driving a stolen car at high speed is a lot more dangerous than walking the streets with a hammer or knife. As for anyone driving a car with even one drink in them, it deserves a life ban from driving and your freedom taken away.
