I find it very sad that music, which as far as I'm concerned should be about bringing people together even if they have different perspectives and tastes, all too often seem to encourage anger & resentment. For what it's worth I prefer Kate's work with Kathryn Roberts but I quite understand that there are people who have a different opinion or view & accept that they are allowed to do so. After all we live in a world of diversity and just because people differ in their tastes to me does not mean that they are wrong or fools, it just means that we differ. I remember years ago reading a letter in Folk Roots in which someone commented about the diversity of taste within the folk world and saying that if people wanted to listen to Chinese folk music that was fine by them as long as this person didn't have to listen to me. I phoned Ian Anderson and said " About my forthcoming album of Chinese folk music...." Part of the richness of life involves generosity of spirit and a sense of humour about things.
