BB Bonnie Shaljean in concert, Devon, UK (5) Bonnie Shaljean in concert, Devon, UK 18 Jul 09

We're very excited about next Saturday's Shammick Acoustic concert at The Pack o' Cards, High Street, Combe Martin, when we'll have a rare visit to the UK from Irish American musician, singer and composer, Bonnie Shaljean. Bonnie was born in America, but her love of the Celtic harp brought her first to London, where she worked with the great Irish performer Packie Byrne, then to Ireland where she teaches at the Cork School of Music, as well as running her own publishing company for harp music. She is an accomplished musician who plays piano as well as harp, sings and composes music and songs, and is an acknowledged expert on Celtic harpists and their music. She is currently working on a historical research project which will include a CD of traditional and other 19th Century music. A beautiful singer of a wide variety of songs with an engaging personality, she will delight all those who love Irish music or the harp. The concert starts at 8 p.m., doors open 7.30. Tickets are £6 in advance, £5 to members, online here
, or at the door for £7, £6 to members. Don't miss this chance to hear Bonnie – it may be a very long time before the opportunity arises again!

Bonnie will also be doing a talk/recital in the afternoon on the Celtic harpers, their lives and their music. We have people coming from far and wide for this event, but there are still places left if you want to come. You can download the booking form from the Shammick Acoustic website here
, but get it to us as soon as possible please, so that we can get details back to you in time.

Hope to see some of you!

Barbara
