I attribute the shortages to people being concerned that Obama will follow in the footsteps of the Bush's and Clinton continuing the erosion of civil rights and civil liberties. There is a prevalent perception that restrictions and outright bans of things like tools, ammunition, and even things which are visually similar to other things (e.g. toys) are forthcoming. Only time will tell if these concerns are legitimate. For at least 12 months there has been a shortage af many factory loaded cartridges here in the U.S. but I wonder if other countries are having this problem too. Can any of you offer some insight on this. Bullets by themselves seem to be available for reloading albeit in a somewhat limited supply. But factory ammunition is what I am primarily aware of being in short supply. The cost of raw materials has driven prices up too over the past few years. Primers, bullets, factory loads, and cases have gotten quite pricey. -E
